Freedom Village
Located in Hamtramck, MI, Freedom Village is comprised of three, new construction houses that will provide temporary housing for incoming refugee families. These families will have a place to call home as they transition into society after leaving their country due to persecution, war, or violence.
Each home contains an upstairs and downstairs unit that each come with their own kitchen, living room, master suite, children's rooms, and bathroom. Three of the units will be partially furnished while the other three will be fully furnished. Families will have the option to take the furniture with them once they establish a place of permanent residence.
Our role is to provide space planning services as well as furniture, accessory, and accent paint selections for each of the units. Numerous meetings will be conducted to determine the needs of the incoming families as well as their cultural preferences in regards to color, pattern, etc.
We are partnering with Samaritas who work with, and find, the incoming families and continue to walk with them on their journey after occupancy. We are also partnering with Wayne Metropolitan who is overseeing the construction and development of the property. Occupancy is scheduled for mid-October of 2020.
The three lower units were completed and furnished in October of 2020 (Phase 1). We are currently in Phase 2 of the project which consists of the three upper units which will be partially furnished, working with the tenants existing furnishings.
